Operation Proud Nation

Students, families, active duty military and veterans in cities across
the country show appreciation for the military in a giant mosaic mural.

Operation Proud Nation is a national program taking place in cities across the country.  Students (grades 8-12) in each city along with veterans, members of the military, and military families, have the opportunity to create an 8.5”x11” artwork and attach a message thanking members of the military for their service and sacrifice. Thousands of artworks will be collected from coast to coast to create a giant 4’x8’ mosaic mural that will be installed in a prominent public location.  In addition, participants will receive a poster reproduction of the mosaic mural that members of their community helped to create.

Participants will also be able to see the mosaic mural in the Project S.N.A.P. Online Art Museum, and see how their artwork fits into the “big picture” as well as the message that they wrote.  In addition, a copy of each artwork will be mailed to a member of the military.

You can see some examples of artworks that have been created in years past as well as watch a short video featuring students discussing their artworks and artist’s statements.
