YWCA of Western Wayne County "Imagine the Possibilities"

Regional YWCA amplifies its community initiative to raise awareness about
the importance of empowering women and their families to achieve their dreams.

The YWCA of Western Wayne County partnered with Project S.N.A.P. in a program that provided everyone in the YWCA community an opportunity to come together and create artwork that expressed their unique perspective on the theme: “Together we help women and their families achieve their dreams – imagine the possibilities!”  The programs that were offered through the YWCA were featured as part of the outreach program conducted by the YWCA in conjunction with this initiative.  Participants included people of all ages from Head Start families to Mayors of local cities, business leaders, YWCA supporters and program participants, college students and K-12 students throughout the area.

The YWCA of Western Wayne County mission embraces dedication to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.  The 4’x6′ mosaic mural served as a tribute to this mission. The mosaic mosaic mural was created for display in the lobby of the new YWCA building opened in early 2012.

Our staff members created their own vision of how the YWCA represents them in their own hearts and cultures... from schools to prevention agencies to the Department of Human Services to the school systems, it was really a great opportunity for the whole community to come together.

Participants who created artworks for the mosaic can view their artwork in the Project S.N.A.P. Online Art Museum.
