Celebrating our Heritage and Family

Members of the Congregation family leave a
legacy, voicing the importance of heritage and family.

Congregation Shaarey Zedek partnered with Project S.N.A.P. on a community engagement mosaic mural program celebrating the congregation’s community and the theme “Am Yisrael Chai–The Jewish People Live.” Members of the Synagogue family and the larger Metropolitan Detroit Jewish community were invited to leave a legacy by creating artwork for this large scale mosaic mural as they added their voice to the “big picture.”  The 4’ x 15’ mosaic mural is made from over 3,000 artworks and is on display at the Berman Center for Jewish Education at Congregation Shaarey Zedek.  The mosaic mural is dedicated in memory of the loving and creative spirit of Sylvia and Sol Panush.

I drew a picture of my family because I love my family and cherish them. Our family is built upon tradition and values. We believe these principles will fortify our family for generations to come.

Participants can access the mosaic mural online in the project S.N.A.P. Online Art Museum, read and share their artist’s statement, and see how their artwork fits into the “big picture”. The mosaic mural is also on display in the “Featured Programs” in the Project S.N.A.P. Online Art Museum. Or, you may visit the finished mural inside of the Berman Center for Jewish Education.
